2016 – Come at Me!

I wanted to start the new year by bringing it back to what I intended this blog to be about. Your 20’s are a confusing and challenging time for all of us, but don’t dive heard first into that quarter life crisis just yet!

When I started this last year I was in a place where I believed that I would never find my passion in life. I’ve never had any idea of what I want to do with my life when so many of my friends were born to be teachers or doctors or journalists. You know the type, those who have there lives planned out from an early age, and that’s great for them but it that just never me. I’ve felt this way since finishing college and venturing into the scary grown up world of the 9-5 job, so for about 4 years now.

With this new year beginning, I by no means bumped into my life path around a Dublin street corner, and I do not have my life together in any shape of form, but I am looking at things from a slightly different perspective these days.

Looking back at 2015 I have realised that it was a good year for me, and for the first time I am looking forward to the journey I am on in finding my life passion or passions! Although I may  not know what the end goal is or where I may end up, I have decided to embrace the winding road taking me there and enjoy the scenery along the way.

Once you let go of trying to plan your life out, or stressing over the fact that you don’t have a plan, it’s quite invigorating to let yourself go and accept whatever is waiting for you around the corner.

So, with that in mind, come at me with all you’ve got 2016!!

  1. Well, Murdockish, firstly, thank you for stopping by and liking what you read – secondly, Murdockish from Dublin, whatever your passion(s) turns out to be, make sure, as they say in the classics, that along the way, you never lie, cheat or steal. Top of the morning to you, from Eoghan (though in Australia we spell it ‘Owen’).

  2. Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking my latest post! I bid you much success in 2016 as you navigate your “quarter life crisis” and learn more about yourself. Just a friendly word of warning … don’t make it a “crisis”, make it a “challenge” or a “journey of discovery”.

Happy New Year from “across the pond” in the United States!

  3. Do it any way you want to. You don’t have to conform! I’ve done much in life, many different roles and if I had it over I would change a few things… one thing is for certain, I would not suppress my creativity if I could start again!! Write, paint… draw… use your camera as your heart tells you to… just give your creativity free reign! Blog… write verse… do it!!

Guess what? You’ll be more content and enjoy the ride even more!! Walk along the Liffey at lunchtime I’m lucky that I can do it again for a short while… cold but good!! 😉

  4. I love the truth and honesty in this post! So many of us were born not knowing what we want to do or who we want to be. I once got a fortune cookie which read, “The easiest way to navigate through life is to give up all of our controls.” It sounds like you’re doing just that, so keep it up! The passion will come when it comes. Until then, just live and have fun!
