A Little Bit About Murdockish

Irish girl, making my way through my 20’s while trying to avoid having a quarter life crisis.

I decided to start this blog after discovering the following – your 20’s can be a confusing and scary time in your life.

Who said you have to be in your 40’s or 50’s to have a life crisis, for me there is such thing as having a ‘quarter life crisis’ in your 20’s.

Granted, there are a lucky few of us who have their lives all set up and planned out, are in their ideal situations right now and are happy moving forward. But for the rest of you, who may be like me, I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

I used to think that I was the only one, and that everyone else in the world are already making their way down their chosen paths.

No. The majority of people at this age do not know what they are doing, what they want to do or need to do. I am not the only one, you are not the only one, there are loads of us! So I have started this blog to record my wanderings through the next few years, and if it just helps one of you in the same boat to realise that you’re not the only one, i’ll be happy 🙂

  1. You may be surprised to find out that you are far from alone. You have so much ahead of you and are taking the time to make sure that it is ‘your dreams’ you follow and not ordained by others.

Bonne courage et bonne chance! Léa

  2. You definitely aren’t alone–though I think the pressures today are different than they were in the 1960s when I was in my 20s. I went through most of my young adult years in a fog. Sort of on automatic pilot. It’s tons better now, but that’s the way it was! Thanks for stopping by and liking one of my posts today. Feel free to visit. Anytime.

  3. So many things I worried about in my 20s and 30s never came to pass. I got stronger and more confidant as I grew older. Follow your gut instincts and see where you go. I wish you a fulfilling life. And thanks for liking my blog, WordThoughts. I’ll always strive to keep it interesting (and, I hope, entertaining) for you.

  4. I feel the same. I’m also in my twenties, and I’d always breezed through life, not thinking too hard about the future, what I wanted to do with my life and what kind of goals I wanted to set for myself. Last year however, I met someone whose passion for life inspired me. I realized that there is so much more to life when you work towards something you really want everyday.

I still haven’t figured out a lot of things, but I’m happier when I go to bed every night knowing that I met the goals I set for myself.

  5. Sharing is caring. Keep a positive attitude (easier said than done at times) and all will be fine. In the end, you will have inspired and healed many going through the same type of journey. Much Love, Light and Blessings, Emma

  6. Don’t worry, you know more than you think you do. Turning 30 was a gradual turning point for me. I still had all the same doubts and concerns, but I didn’t anguish over them like I did in my twenties. I really started just enjoying life more. I’m 33 and still have nothing figured out. Good luck!

  7. Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. I really believe in karma – your situation is like a longer version of a single day. There is no such thing as a Perfect day – mostly it’s just how you take it – you get some good good news, and then something maybe upsetting happens, then someone cheers you up. That sort of thing. I mean, if it’s not a really fun time for you right now, you will eventually right? Besides, those who have “perfect lives” won’t even know, let alone experience, what you’re going through , therefore you’re mentally much, much stronger than them. It’s all ‘I’ll never give up.’

  8. I’m 35, my advice: go as hard as you can, you’ll be in yer 30’s soon! I went hard but I wish I’d gone harder. You can’t do all-nighters & all-weekenders when you have another half & even a little one to think of, tell yourself that every time you’re thinking of going home early. Enjoy.

  9. I amusingly recall turning 25, thinking, “I’m a quarter of a century old now. And what have I done with my life?!” Now how I wish I had the energy I had then. You’re in very good company. No one gets out alive.

  10. He he. It’s like that movie with Robert Pattinson where HE was having a quarter-life crisis. Funny movie; but not funny to actually have one. I should know! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for stopping by and giving me a “like.” Holla at ya later!

  11. Hi there! Thanks for following my blog. Enjoy not being sure of what you want to do during your 20s. It took me much much longer to figure out what I wanted to do. Sure, you might be envious of others who seem to have things sorted out but you’ll see the benefits of all your explorations and uncertainties later on. Happy, happy wanderings.
